Execution
Our products are executed with love by professionally certified women, endowed with care, patience, skill, with a strong sense of beauty, lovers of traditional art and eager to carry on this ancient craft.
The carpets are made by hand, at the vertical frame, with the club in the shape of a fork. The weaving technique is that of yarn picking.
The materials used to make the fabrics are wool and cotton.
The wool comes from the tzurcana sheep, with a long, resistant and rough wool. It is painted in various colors or natural color is used.
Cotton is used for warping (the “skeleton” of any fabric). It is responsible for the resistance of the fabric over time.
The models used are collected from the Oltenia area. Oltenian rugs are used as models, but these models are continuously perfected by our weavers, although the main concern is not to go out of the traditional patterns.
The fabrics are not washed in the washing machine and no detergents are used because they damage the wool. The water in which the carpets are washed must not be hot. The water needs to be cold as “for-bread-like”. Rinsing should be done strongly, moderate squeezing and drying in the shade. The ironing can be done over a gauze moistened in water mixed with vinegar in a proportion of maximum 15%, to invigorate the colors, respecting the temperature limits for wool and cotton.
To keep as a “dowry”, it is important to know that the fabrics feel good in dry, airy and bright spaces away from the direct action of sunlight. Naphthalene keeps them away from moth attacks.
Depending on the complexity of the model, the execution time is between 7 and 14 days for each m2 of fabric.
The works executed by our weavers can be seen and bought in our workshop in Grădinari locality, Olt county, inside the Buna-Vestire Monastery Settlement, more details can be offered by phone.
